TCA Environmental Committee Seminar Series: Building to Net Zero - Infrastructure
- October 12, 20239:00 AM - 10:00 AM (local time)
- Zoom
FOCUS OF THIS SEMINAR:
With McKinsey and Company indicating that cement and steel account for approximately 14% of global CO2 emissions and 47% of construction industry CO2 emissions, this month’s session will focus on how steel and cement manufacturers, designers and the legal world are preparing for the unprecedented, which appears to be longer unprecedented.
JOIN US AS WE EXPLORE NET ZERO – INFRASTRUCTURE
As noted by the Canadian Press’s Bob Weber, “Something’s Changed: Summer 2023 is screaming climate change, scientists say…It’s been that kind of season. Floods, drought, warm waters lapping three coasts – but mostly wildfire smoke from sea to sea and overseas. Yes, this is climate change, scientists say, and expect more weirdness to come.”
To address how the Infrastructure community is combatting this weirdness, our panellists will include a steel and cement manufacturer as well as a prominent mechanical engineer specializing in energy efficiency and sustainable development, and an experienced author and panellist with extensive legal experience dealing with P3 infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
Together, they will explore how their respective industries are at the forefront of making a much-needed change to the way we manufacture, design and build Infrastructure in the Greater Toronto Area.
